what has and what has not happened so far
There has been no significant progress since the last blog post. At least not regarding the localhostinger idea(s).
Priorities. The past couple of weeks I was busy landing a new job and travelling for a tiny bit. When I computered, I made some progress in degoogling and uncomplexing my digital life. It was fun.
On another note, I also got my toes wet with local LLMs, which I have tried to use to digitalize scanned supermarket receipts. Also a fun little project, and a work in progress.
Back in July I have submitted a localhosting proposal to the NLNet foundation (opens in a new window), for which I am expecting feedback any time soon (3 - 5 months according to their website). This will clearly have an impact on where localhostinger can go, and how much time I am willing to invest to get some prototype out. However, I will also have to commit to my new job especially in the upcoming weeks.
I do note that I am still believing in making localhosting more of a thing, it’s just difficult timing right now (I know, it always is).
Regarding the blog, I think I might also post about software engineering topics. There are so many interesting things to write about and experiment with. Maybe I’ll do a regular “things i found interesting this week” post or something like that.
